Apple Tart

  1. Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Add the water and stir to a dough with the back of a knife.
  3. Chill the pastry for 30 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the apple with sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Prick the top with a fork and brush with beaten egg before baking.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes at 220°C, then for 20 minutes at 190°C.
  7. Sprinkle with caster sugar while hot.
